Geography Home Education Packages: Expert-Led Home Learning Courses

Looking for complete geography home education? The Geography Teacher’s geography home education packages give home-educated students everything they need to study geography at home with confidence: a student-friendly work pack for every topic, marked assignments with detailed feedback and marked practice exam questions. Whether your child is studying Key Stage 3 geography, Edexcel IGCSE, Edexcel A Level or Edexcel International A Level, the resources are created by Dr Hayley Stainton and are already trusted by geography teachers in schools around the world.

Geography home education packages from The Geography Teacher

Please note: The Geography Teacher supports students with their home learning, but we do not provide the qualification or certificate. To gain the qualification, your child must be entered through an exam centre that accepts private candidates for that specific qualification (for example, a Pearson Edexcel approved centre). The centre handles registration, exam entry, assessment and certification, and any fees are paid separately to them.

Geography home education, without the guesswork

Geography home education gives students freedom, but geography is a specialist subject with case studies, fieldwork and skills that are hard to teach without the right materials. Most families quickly run into the same problems:

  • Finding reliable, up-to-date resources that actually match the specification
  • Knowing whether written answers are good enough, and what grade they are working at
  • Getting proper feedback on extended answers and exam technique
  • Covering the geographical skills, maps, graphs and data that exams test
  • Keeping a structured routine so the course gets finished on time
  • Feeling confident that your child is genuinely ready for the exam

Our geography home education packages solve every one of these. Your child follows a clear, structured work pack, submits their work, and gets it back marked with expert feedback that tells them exactly how to improve. You get peace of mind. They get the grades.

What is included in every geography home education module

1. A student-friendly work pack

Each module comes with a complete work pack written in clear, accessible language so students can learn independently at home. Work packs include:

  • Easy-to-follow notes covering every topic in the module
  • Worksheets and activities to check understanding
  • Up-to-date case studies from around the world
  • Map, graph and data skills practice
  • Key terms glossaries and knowledge organisers for revision
  • Extension tasks for students aiming for the top grades

2. Marked assignments with detailed feedback

Students complete assignments as they work through the module and submit them for marking. Every assignment is returned with detailed, personalised feedback that shows:

  • What the student has done well
  • Exactly where marks were lost and why
  • Clear, specific steps to improve the work
  • How to move up to the next grade boundary

3. Marked practice exam questions

Exam technique is where many home-educated students lose marks. Each module includes exam-style practice questions which are marked against the mark scheme, with feedback on command words, structure, use of case studies and evaluation, so students walk into the exam knowing exactly what examiners are looking for. You can also use our free geography past exam papers for extra practice.

Geography home education courses: KS3, IGCSE, A Level and IAL

Our geography home education packages are built on the same Geography Teacher resource banks that teachers use to deliver these qualifications in schools. Choose the course your child is studying at home and we will build a package around the modules they need. Please remember that The Geography Teacher provides the learning support only: students must also be entered through a centre that accepts private candidates in order to sit the exams and receive their certificate.

Home learning Key Stage 3 Geography

A strong foundation for 11 to 14 year olds. Our KS3 home learning modules build map skills, place knowledge and core physical and human geography, so students are ready to start an IGCSE or GCSE course with confidence. There is no exam or certificate at KS3, so this is a flexible option for any home-educated family. See the Key Stage 3 geography resources.

Home learning Edexcel IGCSE Geography

Studying Edexcel International GCSE Geography (4GE1) at home is one of the most popular options for home-educated 14 to 16 year olds, as it is assessed entirely by two written exams and can be taken as a private candidate. Our IGCSE home learning modules cover river, coastal and hazardous environments, economic activity and energy, rural and urban environments, fragile environments and climate change, globalisation and migration, and development and human welfare, with fieldwork questions and marked exam practice throughout. See the Edexcel IGCSE geography resources.

You can check the full Edexcel International GCSE Geography specification on the official Pearson Edexcel International GCSE Geography page.

Home learning Edexcel A Level Geography

Our Edexcel A Level Geography (9GE0) home learning modules cover the physical and human geography content for Papers 1 and 2, plus synoptic practice for Paper 3, with plenty of extended writing and detailed feedback on analysis and evaluation for university-bound students. The A Level includes a non-exam assessment (NEA) independent investigation, so private candidates need a centre that is able to supervise and mark the NEA. See the Edexcel A Level geography resources.

Home learning Edexcel International A Level Geography

Edexcel International A Level Geography is assessed entirely by exams, which makes it a popular route for home-educated and international students. Our IAL home learning modules cover all four units: Global Challenges, Geographical Investigations, Contested Planet and Researching Geography. See the Edexcel IAL geography resources.

Geography home education FAQs

Does The Geography Teacher provide the qualification or certificate?

No. The Geography Teacher is not an awarding body or exam centre. We support students with their home learning through work packs, marked assignments, marked exam practice and feedback, but we do not register students for qualifications, enter them for exams, carry out formal assessment or issue certificates. To gain a qualification, students must be entered through a centre that accepts private candidates for that specific qualification, and its fees are paid separately.

How much do the geography home education packages cost?

Pricing depends on the course, the number of modules and the level of support your child needs. Send us an enquiry using the form on this page and we will recommend the right package for your child.

Which courses can be studied through geography home education?

We support home learning for Key Stage 3 geography, Edexcel International GCSE Geography, Edexcel A Level Geography and Edexcel International A Level Geography.

Can a home-educated student sit a geography exam?

Yes. Edexcel International GCSE Geography and Edexcel International A Level Geography are assessed by exams only, so home-educated students can usually enter as private candidates through an exam centre that accepts them. Edexcel A Level Geography also includes a non-exam assessment, so students need a centre that can supervise and mark it. Exam entry is arranged and paid for separately with the centre.

Can my child study IB Geography through home learning?

The IB Diploma can only be taken through an IB World School, so we do not offer IB home learning packages. IB students can, however, book 1:1 IB geography tutoring.

Who marks the work?

Every assignment and practice exam question is marked by a geography specialist from The Geography Teacher team, using the same standards and mark schemes that teachers and examiners use. This marking is for feedback and progress only. It does not count towards the final qualification.

Do I need to be a geography expert to support my child?

No. The work packs are written for students to work through independently, and the marking and feedback does the expert part for you. Parents get clarity on progress without having to teach the subject themselves.

Can I add 1:1 tutoring?

Yes. Live 1:1 online tuition with a specialist geography tutor can be added to any package. Let us know in your enquiry and we will match your child with the right tutor.
